'China Then and Now' A lecture by Ambassador Nicholas Platt

Ambassador Nicholas Platt discusses his book China Boys: How U.S. Relations with the PRC Began and Grew.

Ambassador Nicholas Platt discusses his book China Boys: How U.S. Relations with the PRC Began and Grew, and the resumption of US-China relations in the 1960s and 1970s. He begins with a video of his own movies of the Nixon Trip and life in China in 1973, the first year that the US had diplomat residents in Beijing. After the video, Platt does selective readings from his book China Boys and then conducts an interactive discussion with the audience on current conditions in China and the state of the US relationship now.
