In Harveyâs honour the RSM is hosting a free public lecture in association with the Harveian Society of London âThe Art and Science
of Medicineâ
William Harvey, 1578-1657, the great English physician and author
in 1628 of âExercitatio Anatomica de Motu Cordis et Sanguinis in
Animalibusâ (The motion of the heart and blood in animals) was the
first to describe the circulation of the blood. As emphasised by Osler,
an important physician/scientist of later years, Harvey was the first to
approach a great physiological problem by experimentation and to weigh
evidence and not go beyond it letting the conclusions emerge naturally
but firmly from the observations.
In Harveyâs honour the RSM is hosting a free public lecture in
association with the Harveian Society of London âThe Art and Science
of Medicineâ
Join our inaugural lecturer Professor John Deanfield as he addresses the
intriguing title âThe child is father to the man; lifetime management of
arterial diseaseâ
