Aspects of Atheistic Determinism

In this talk, Tom Rubens will be exploring compatibilism: the doctrine that freedom, defined in a certain way, is reconcilable with causation. In general, the topic of determinism vs. libertarianism remains a live one in Philosophy. Compatibilism in particular is a very important subject, especially in relation to examining acts of political protest and rebellion.

Tom Rubens is a former lecturer in English in further and higher education and a published poet. He now teaches English and Philosophy as a home tutor. He has published five books in Philosophy, with a sixth due out in early 2012.
