Whose Morality is it Anyway?

What voice does society have in dictating public morality? And where is the place of religion now in guiding moral values?

Who directs the moral and ethical standards in society? For centuries in Britain it has been led by the church but in a multi-faith and increasingly atheist population, where does or should this power reside? Are politicians the right people to decide what is good and bad behaviour? What is the role of the media in directing our sense of what is acceptable behaviour? What voice does society have in dictating public morality? And where is the place of religion now in guiding moral values?

Speakers include Richard Holloway (writer and broadcaster), Owen Jones (author) and Theodore Dalrymple (writer). The event will be chaired by Riazat Butt (journalist).
