Jewish Resistance during the Holocaust

This lecture explores the various historical perspectives that can be used to understand Jewish Resistance during WWII.

This lecture will consider the many different methodological and historical issues that must be taken into account in order to properly understand and evaluate the much discussed, very controversial, issue of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust. The lecture will attempt, among other things, to show that there are many factors that need to be considered before one passes judgment, either pro or con, on Jewish behavior during this unprecedented epoch.

Prof Steven T. Katz is Director of the Elie Wiesel Center for Judaic Studies at Boston University, Boston, Ma., and holds the Alvin J. and Shirley Slater Chair in Jewish and Holocaust Studies.
