Documenting Nazi Camps and Ghettos: The USHMM Encyclopedia

Dr Martin Dean will discuss the new findings of the USHMM's Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos Project.


In March 2013, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) announced that they had catalogued over 40,000 Nazi camps and ghettos in project that has already last 13 years. In this lunchtime lecture, Dr Martin Dean will discuss the new findings of the USHMM's Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos Project, including the impact of the International Tracing Service--a copy of which is now housed at The Wiener Library--and other digital archives.

Dr Martin Dean is an Applied Research Scholar at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, USHMM and the author of Robbing the Jews: The Confiscation of Jewish Property in the Holocaust, 1933-1945.
