Tom Stoddart discusses his remarkable career as one of the worldâs most respected photojournalists - from his exclusive access to Tony Blair as he swept into power in 1997 to the AIDS pandemic sweeping through Africa today.
He has witnessed the war in Lebanon, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the election of Nelson Mandela, the bloody siege of Sarajevo and the wars in Iraq.
In 1997, Tony Blair gave Stoddart behind-the-scenes access to his election campaign, as Labourâs victory ended 18 years of Conservative government. His recent extensive work on the catastrophic AIDS pandemic blighting Africa has been widely published and exhibited.
Join us for an evening with the photojournalist when he will be sharing the insights he has gained and the challenges he has faced in the course of his remarkable career.
Stoddart has been the recipient of several international prizes, including the Visa DâOr at the Perpignan photojournalism festival for his work in Rwanda, and POYâs Best Photography Book Published in 2004 for iWITNESS. He was a founder member of the Independent Photographersâ Group in the UK.
