New Spin for Old Memories - the Nanotechnology of Magnetic Materials

Nanometre-scale magnetic materials can be used to build a new generation of microelectronic devices.

At exgtrememly small scales materials exhibit unexpected characteristics and functionality. Nanometre-scale magnetic materials can be used to build a new generation of microelectronic devices that use both the spin and the charge of the electron. Applications for such devices range from the battlefield to MP3 players. Russell Cowburn, Professor of Nanotechnology will be explaining the new ideas and the new technologies
