Professor Robert Winston investigates how science might help us understand happiness
Why was it that Mahler apparently never wrote another musical note after his meeting with Sigmund Freud? Why did Michel de Montaigne thank Fortune for having sent him the worst physical pain in human experience? What led to J Alfred Prufrock's lack of self-esteem and his depression? In this talk Professor Winston examines the role of hormone studies, brain imaging, sexuality, research into child development, pharmacology, social science research and psychological studies to see how science might help us understand happiness.
