A re-evaluation of Presser's key work on the Holocaust in the Netherlands, by the filmmaker Philo Bregstein.
In 1965, the Dutch historian Jacob Presser (who also wrote under the name Jacques Presser) published his study 'Ashes in the Wind', triggering a fierce debate on the Holocaust in the Netherlands. To mark the re-publication of 'Ashes in the Wind' by Souvenir Press, the Wiener Library is delighted to welcome Philo Bregstein, Dutch filmmaker and journalist, to re-evaluate the impact of Presser's book.
Philo Bregstein has had an eclectic career as a writer and filmmaker, including publishing 4 novels and many non-fiction works, as well as directing 10 films which are widely distributed in the USA.
